The total power of 19,200 hp gives to the yacht ability to sail with 20.0 knots maximum speed. Of course the cruising speed is a little bit lower – 17.2 knots. The hull of the yacht is made by steel alloy and the propulsion system is designed with innovating technologies for energy saving. The yacht has fixed pitch propeller, which consumes high power from the propulsion system and reduces the water resistance. The fuel consumption of the mega-yacht Octopus is really decreased with the improved shape and paint of the hull. On economy speed, the fuel consumption is about 15 tons per day and increases with the increase of the speed.
